A comprehensive guide on tracking, modifying, and managing your flight details and check-in status with flydubai.
Understanding flydubai's online check-in process

Your journey with flydubai starts with their online check-in portal, which opens 48 hours before departure and closes 75 minutes before takeoff. You can access this service via a computer, tablet, or smartphone through the flydubai website or mobile app. The platform allows passengers on the same booking to check in separately and at different times. However, online check-in is not available for passengers departing from Aleppo, Ashgabat, Damascus, Dubrovnik, and Tivat; these travelers must check in at the airport.
To access the online check-in system, you will need your booking reference and the last name of at least one passenger. Once logged in, you must provide personal information exactly as it appears on your passport, including your full name, date of birth, gender, nationality, and passport details like the expiry date and issuing country. You also need to provide a mobile phone number and email address for flight communications. Emirates Skywards members can add their membership number during this process to earn miles for the trip.
Whether you get a digital boarding pass depends on your destination airport's requirements, such as those at the major airports of the Arabian Peninsula. While many routes provide a digital pass directly to your device, some locations require passengers to visit the airport check-in counter so staff can verify travel documents before issuing a printed boarding pass. flydubai recommends downloading their mobile app for real-time notifications about gate changes and boarding announcements.
Modifying and canceling your check-in
If you need to adjust your booking after checking in online, flydubai has a 'Cancel check-in' feature. Found in the online check-in portal, this tool lets you reverse your check-in status up to four hours before departure. You must do this first if you want to modify your booking, as the system locks certain details once you are checked in. If your booking includes multiple people, you can choose which passengers to uncheck, though infants are unchecked along with their guardian.
Canceling your check-in is useful for changing seat assignments or baggage. For example, if the system auto-assigned your seat or you want to upgrade to a spot with extra legroom, you must first uncheck yourself. After making changes and paying any fare differences, you can check in again. You can repeat this process as long as you complete the final check-in before the 75-minute cutoff.
There are some limits to the 'Cancel check-in' feature. You cannot undo your check-in online if you have already visited the airport desk, such as when baggage tags have been issued. The feature is also disabled if your flight is less than four hours away or if part of your journey involves a partner airline. For connecting flydubai flights, you cannot cancel your check-in once your journey has started at the origin airport.
Managing your overall booking and adding extras

Outside of the check-in window, flydubai’s 'Manage booking' interface lets you oversee your itinerary. Enter your last name and booking reference on the website or app to control your reservation. Here, you can change travel dates, update contact information, or add or remove people from a booking. This tool helps you keep your travel plans current.
You can also use the management portal to buy optional extras. Depending on your fare and availability, you can add checked baggage up to six hours before your flight to avoid higher fees at the airport, which is a key step in learning how to find budget airline deals. You can also pre-select meals, purchase travel insurance, or bid for a Business Class upgrade to make your trip more comfortable.
If you need to cancel your trip, perhaps because a travel warning was issued for your destination, the 'Manage booking' tool handles the process. You should cancel or rebook at least two hours before departure to avoid being marked as a no-show, which can forfeit the value of your ticket. While flydubai usually provides refunds as travel vouchers rather than cash, canceling online ensures credits are processed quickly. Note that changes or cancellations depend on the fare rules of your ticket.
